In medieval times, the crossbow was revered as an effective hunting tool, chosen for its awesome power, accuracy and relative ease of use. With the development of the firearm, it unfortunately faded into history, as hunters became proficient at taking game at long distances.
 
Almost half a century ago, Bernard Horton, an accomplished gun maker and sportsman, recognized that they did not meet the needs of serious modern big game hunters. However, he realized that they did have potential to become an effective close-range hunting tool by today's standards. Horton began experimenting with designs in his workshop, creating for his own personal use. The word quickly spread about his amazing new designs and it was then that the Horton legacy was born. From the very first models, Horton's designs were rugged, compact and accurate. Horton's unique blend of advanced technology and raw power brought the crossbow out of the dark ages and into the forefront of modern big game hunting.
